From 2005 until now the regional administration of Smolyan had received no money at all for the cleaning of the river beds of the region of Smolyan, regional governor Dr Petar Fidanov declared for Radio FOCUS – Smolyan. He pointed out that the regional administration was responsible for all rivers and gullies outside the populated areas. After the great floods in 2005 the administration had been sending requests for financing but in vain so far, Dr Fidanov said.
The Council of Ministers gave its consent to Russia to open its consulate in Plovdiv. The consulate would be headed by an honorary consular official and its consular district would comprise the territory of the regions of Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kurdjali, Haskovo and Stara Zagora, the government press service announced on December 27. Russias choice for the honorary consular position was businessman and executive director of the International Fair Plovdiv Georgi Gergov, mediapool.bg said.
Thirty plots with total area of 260 acres in the region of Bosilkovo , Davidkovo , Zagrajden , Riben dol villages have been bought by a Bulgarian-Irish company.
