The so-called "Wonder Bridges" are one of the most impressive natural phenomena in Bulgaria`s Rodopi mountain . They are situated some 5 km northwest of the village of Zabardo . People also call them "Erkyupria" (from "er" - land, and "kypria" - bridge in Turkish). According to specialists, the bridges were once a cave, which had most probably collapsed as a result of an earthquake. The Rhodope Mountain village of Zaburdo will officially open its small zoo on August 15. This will be the zoo located at highest altitude in Bulgaria , radio Focus- Smolyan reported. The exact altitude is 1500 m. Some of the animals that visitors will get the chance to observe include deer, boar and rabbit. Official opening will take place on August 14 and 15 when Zaburdo celebrates its holiday.

The Bulgarian folk group "Euro Grandmothers" has created a Rhodope Mountains folk song glorifying the legendary Bulgarian football star Hristo Stoychkov . Bulgarian hamlet of Zaburdo (Rhodopes) has invited French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his new wife Carla Bruni to visit their mountain village and thereby ensure their marriage won`t end in tears, AFP informed. The few hundred people inhabitants of Zaburdo, assure no one there has ever been divorced. Local tradition enjoins newly-wed couples take a ride on Zaburdo`s ferris wheel as a way of sealing their union forever, Valentin Cherpokov, mayor of the Rhodope village shared in front of AFP. From AFP also reported that the French Embassy in Sofia confirmed the receipt of the invitation.
