108 police officers will be sent to winter resorts in Bulgaria, Commissar Tomi Iliev from General Directorate Security Police said in an interview for FOCUS News Agency. A total of 60 policemen from the regional directorates of Plovdiv, Pernik and Stara Zagora will be sent to Bansko from December 1st till March 31st.

At the order of the mayors of the towns of Smolyan and Chepelare, Dora Yankova and Georgi Popov, the construction works at the Pamporovo mountain resort, as well as at the neighboring resorts, will be stopped, FOCUS Radio – Smolian reports. The ban will be active by March 31, 2009. The measure is taken in order to provide normal conditions for the functioning of the sports installations and hotel base in the upcoming active winter tourist season.

The conditions in the mountains are not suitable for tourism, the Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service warns. It`s cloudy, with heavy wind in the high parts. The temperatures this morning were -5 to 2C. The Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service does not recommend long walks, especially in the mountains high parts. The worst weather conditions are in Vitosha , where in the high parts the wind is very strong. It`s very cloudy on "Cherni Vrah" peak. And the temperatures are -3 to 0C. It is snowing in the municipality of Smolyan, Southern Bulgaria. District Road Department – Smolyan told Focus Smolyan Radio that no traffic restrictions were imposed. There is snow cover of 5 cm along the passes of Pamporovo and Prevala. The roads in the municipality have been cleaned.
