The weather conditions in the mountains are not suitable for tourism, Mountain Rescue Service announced. It is foggy and windy on high grounds. The Mountain Service recommends that tourists walk along marked routes because there is a threat of avalanches. The snow is 10 cm deep. It is still snowing in the region of Smolyan. The municipal authorities are keeping the situation under control, mayor of Smolyan municipality Dora Yankova told Focus News Agency. The snow is 40 cm deep in Pamporovo winter resort and 10 cm in the town of Smolyan. Vehicles are clearing the snow from the roads, she added.

There is a threat of avalanches in mountains, Mountain Rescue Service told. The service advises skiers to use processed ski runs only because there are conditions for avalanches. On Saturday snow mass came down again close to Todorka summit, near Bansko winter resort. The temperatures are low and there are freezing weather conditions. Light wind is blowing in some places. The weather conditions are suitable for mountain tourism, but in the marked areas solely. All ski runs and facilities are working.

Weather in Pamporovo winter resort is suitable for skiing. It is clear and calm morning in the mountain. Measured temperature was 2 degrees below zero on Celsius and the snow blanket is about 30 cm as it is maintaining by the outfits for artificial snow, the Mounting Rescue Service told. Ski and chair lifts are working. Weather conditions are good for tourism.

Despite the ideal conditions for skiing in Bulgarian winter resorts, the number of foreign tourists is going down. The number of foreign holiday-makers has decreased by 15,000 compared to the same period of 2008, sources from Plovdiv Airport informed. Last year some 60,000 tourists used the service of the airport. The tourists show bigger interest in Bansko winter resort where their number now is 15,000 people.

The municipal authorities of Chepelare may put a five-year ban on erecting new hotels in ski resort Pamporovo in a bid to cool off construction activities outpacing infrastructure development.
