Treasure hunters are destroying an ancient bridge in the Smolyan region village of Borino , radio Focus- Smolyan reported. The bridge dates back to the Roman period. Pamporovo hotel and restaurant owners have refrained from paying taxes worth 380 000 leva to Chepelare municipality , radio Focus- Smolyan reported. Earthquake measuring about 3.6 on the Richter scale has been registered some 80 km southeastern from Sofia at 06.54 am, the Civil Protection National Service with the Ministry of Emergency Situations` press office informed. A Chepelare initiative committee won European funding for rural region development, radio Focus Smolyan reported. The project will affect the municipalities of Banite , Luki and Chepelare . An earthquake measuring 3 on the Richter scale was registered at 5:26 a.m. on Friday 170 km southeast of Sofia. The earthquake was felt in three southern Bulgarian municipalities in the district of Smolyan - Banite, Madan and Nedelino, the official on duty in the District Civil Protection Directorate - Smolyan announced. Slightly over 99 percent of all foreign tourists who visited the Smolyan region have selected hotel accommodation, radio Focus-Smolyan reported. Less than one percent relied on other accommodation options. Revenue from the accommodations of foreign tourists during the first quarter of 2009 reached 3.8 million leva. Revenue for the same period of 2008 was five million leva. The overall tourism revenue in the region for the first quarter of 2009 totaled 6.5 million leva in comparison to 7.8 million leva for 2008.
