The State Agency of Tourism (SAT) inquiry shows that despite the remarks to Bulgaria, 78% of the foreign tourists would recommend our winter resorts . 23,4% more foreign tourists have visited the winter resorts in Bulgaria for the period January-February this year compared to the same period of 2007. The constructions of ski centre ‘Mechi chal` starts in one month near Chepelate town ( Rhodope Mountains ). The project is on the amount of 60 million EUR and will be realized in two steps. The first one foresees the building of 4 seat lift with 2,000 skiers capacity. On the first station of the lift will be constructed parking places, restaurant and a hotel. Pamporovo AD planning construction of a new gondola lift and a holiday village for BGN 100m. New 6-seat lift will start to function on Pamporovo winter resort ( Rhodore Mountain ) by the end of the season. The equipment will service two tracks, which enlarges the resort`s area towards Stoikite village (West).

Pamporovo resort in the Rhodope Mountains would not have artificial snow in the 2007-2008 winter season, because the reservoir, which would provide water for the snow machines, had been drained, Pamporovo ski school director Lyubomir Sankiiski said.

Only at the distance of 1 km. from the town of Chepelare are located the ski tracks "Mechi chal 1" and "Mechi chal 2". The first one is 3200 meters long and 50 meters wide. The second – “Mechi chal 2” is 5200 meters long and 25 wide, it is one of the longest ski track in Bulgaria. Those two ski tracks are among the best Alpine tracks in Europe.
