There is a threat of avalanches in mountains, Mountain Rescue Service told. The service advises skiers to use processed ski runs only because there are conditions for avalanches. On Saturday snow mass came down again close to Todorka summit, near Bansko winter resort. The temperatures are low and there are freezing weather conditions. Light wind is blowing in some places. The weather conditions are suitable for mountain tourism, but in the marked areas solely. All ski runs and facilities are working.

Despite the ideal conditions for skiing in Bulgarian winter resorts, the number of foreign tourists is going down. The number of foreign holiday-makers has decreased by 15,000 compared to the same period of 2008, sources from Plovdiv Airport informed. Last year some 60,000 tourists used the service of the airport. The tourists show bigger interest in Bansko winter resort where their number now is 15,000 people.

A new sports center with 20 km of ski tracks and a new ski lift was opened Wednesday in Bulgaria`s resort town of Chepelare , which is located in the Rhodoppe Mountains . Weather in the mountains would be sunny in the weekend, National Institute for Methodology and Hydrology with Bulgarian Academy of Science informed. Expected minimum temperatures in the weekend will vary from –13 to –18 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures would between from –3 to +4 degrees Celsius.

The weather is the mountains would be cloudy but calm, press centre of the Mountain Rescue Service informed FOCUS News Agency. Measured temperatures in the highlands are below zero Celsius. Measured temperature at Borovets winter resort is 7 degrees below zero Celsius and the snow blanket varies from 55cm to 100cm. Temperature in Pamporovo and Bansko winter resorts is 5 degrees below zero.

The weather condition in the mountains is good for tourism. Mountain Rescue Service . The wind is weak. The temperature at Borovets mountain resort runs to –6 °C, Aleko - -7 °C, Musala - -12 °C.
