Underfunding has pushed back to Jul 1 the launch into operation of a plant for the recycling of solid household waste near the village of Shishmantsi, in the Plovdiv region. The facility was due to be operational by end-Apr. Over 80% of the construction works have been completed with a further 5-6 mln levs needed to wrap the project, said Andon Abromov, a representative of the Egologichen Zavod consortium. The Plovdiv municipality has asked the finance ministry to provide the necessary funding. The plant, which has so far absorbed 16 mln levs in investment, is the first of its type in Bulgaria. The facility will recycle some of the waste while the remainder will be composted. |
