The Arapovski monastery St. Nedelya is situated near the village of Zlatovrah , some 20 km away from the town of Asenovgrad . It was established in 1856 and is the only Bulgarian monastery, built during the Ottoman yoke. It is also the only monastery built in the middle of a valley, instead of isolated somewhere in the mountain. The Enyoven Feast was celebrated in the town of Assenovgrad with the national "Kalinitsa" ritual alongside with a bridal gown festival. The Kalinitsa ritual is the Christian version of the antient cult to the Sun, according to which the Sun is getting married on that day. Young girls, dresses as brides, will gather at the St NIcholas Church at 10 am and will head on a parage to the Assumption of the Holy Mother Church to attend a service for health. [1] [2]
