The area Byala skala (The White Rock) is located near the town of Velingrad . The Thracian tribes settled the region more than 5000 years ago. The spa resort of Velingrad will welcome groups of Russian tourists in September, Standart daily reported. A group of Russian officials selected the town as a vacation destination after visiting and inspecting holiday conditions in Velingrad. Russian tourists will make use of the spa procedures that Velingrad offers. The first group to come to the resort will be comprised of pensioners from Moscow.

Hotels in Velingrad are registering a decrease in the number of tourist visits during the weekends, radio Focus- Pazardzhik reported.
