| Local company Karpatia has started the construction of a hotel and leisure complex some 5 km from the city of Pazardjik. On a footprint of 1.6 ha, the Luda Yana complex will feature a 34-room and double suite hotel and various swimming pool attractions (aqua-park) with a combined are of 0.15 ha. The 3 mln lev complex should open for business by mid-`09. |

The former mayor of Bulgaria`s town of Pazadzhik Ivan Evstatiev shot himself at the heart on Sunday. The tragedy took place in the house of the victim`s father-in-law in Semchinovo village. Evstatiev has been rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is now undergoing a surgery. His life is still in danger, doctors said. | The newly-appointed Pazardjik regional governor has referred back for further fine-tuning a decision of the city council to sell 237 ha of land to Real States, a representative of international corporation Helium Energy, for the construction of a 30 mln lev solar photovoltaic installation between villages Sbor and Apriltsi. The governor objects to the decision on the grounds that some of the land earmarked for the solar installation is classified as woodland in pursuance of the Forests Act and that the investment plans have not been co-ordinated with the Pazardjik forestry board. |
