Greek farmers will closed Svilengrad border checkpoint Kapitan Petko Voyvoda

Chief Directorate Border Police has received official information from Greek border authorities that Ormenion - Kapitan Petko Voyvoda checkpoint (town of Svilengrad) will be closed on January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. due to the farmers’ strike.

The other two checkpoints Exohi – Ilinden and Promahon – Kulata remain blocked, Border Police Spokeswoman Lora Lyubenova told. Regional Border Service - Petrich says the number of passengers from Greece via Macedonia to Bulgaria at Zlatarevo checkpoint (20km from Petrich) has increased a little bit.

Border Police advises that passengers use the only alternative route - Zlatarevo checkpoint on Bulgarian-Macedonian border and then a checkpoint on the Macedonian-Greek border. Border Police reminds that this is an outer EU border and travelers should take the necessary documents with them.
