878 boxes of cigarettes without excise labels have been seized Friday and Saturday on E-80 main road in the region of Svilengrad , press centre of the District Police Directorate of Interior - Haskovo announced. The smuggled cigarettes were found in Fiat car driven by A.M. (29) from the town of Kazanlak and in Opel car driven by M.T. (47) from the town of Svilengrad.

Ilinden -Exsohi checkpoint has been opened for all types of vehicles at 3.00pm, the Border Police press center announced. The protesting Greek farmers have lifted the blockage for trucks as well. It is expected the checkpoint to be opened until Wednesday morning. Kulata -Promachonas checkpoint is still closed for all types of vehilces. Over 330 cars are waiting along the Bulgarian side of the border. Kapitan Andreevo and Zlatograd checkoints are operating normally.

Customs inspectors seized 78.860 kg of heroin at the Kapital Andreevo Checkpoint (on Bulgaria`s border with Turkey) around 4 a.m. on Saturday. The value of the consignment is 9,875,000 leva at costs applied for the administration of justice, but its black market price is much higher, the Plovdiv Regional Customs Directorate said. Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint seized undeclared EUR 40 600 and USD 1010, Customs Agency`s press office announced. The currency was seized late on Thursday night during personal examination of a 24-year-old Turk. The man was driving a bus with Turkish registration from Romania to Turkey. The euros were found in one of his socks. The rest of the currency was found in his pockets.

24.440 kg of heroin was caught at Bulgarian Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint, the Bulgarian News Agency reported. The drug was caught by a specialized section fighting drug smuggling in Svilengrad Customs on a bus owned by a Bulgarian company. On a second occasion Bourgas Customs officers caught 73.088 kg of heroin. According to initial data, the heroin is exceptionally high quality worth some 6 million euros.

The village of Matochina is located some 10 km east of the village of Sladun and about 40 km east-northeast of the town of Svilengrad , on the right shore of the Tundja river.
