Bulgarian customs have seized in cooperation with the National Security Agency and the regional Crime Fighting Authorities a total of 58.5 kg of amphetamines, the press office of the customs agency announced. The drugs were found iat about 3.30 am yesterday upon a detailed examination of a freight vehicle registered in Bulgaria, transporting machines and cosmetics from Bulgaria to Syria. The amphetamines were hidden in three bags with dog food. The estimated value of the drugs is BGN 1.7 Million.

The number of Turkish trucks passing through Bulgaria is 40-50 times higher than the number of Bulgarian trucks passing through Turkey, the Sales Manager of SOMAT Dimitar Nikolov said in an interview for FOCUS News Agency. 20.320 kg of heroin were seized at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint , the Customs Agency announced. According to the informaiotn the estimated value of the drug is BGN 1.8 Million. The shipment was discovered late last night upon a check of a vehicle with license plates from The Netherlands, traveling from Turkey to The Netherlands. The heroin was found hidden in 40 packages in a special compartment in the LPG canister of the vehicle.

Accidents: Bulgaria Border Police Captures Illegal Immigrants from Iraq, Palestine

The Bulgarian border police caught Thursday a total of five Iraqis and two Palestinians trying to enter the country illegally. The five Iraqi citizens - four women and one man - were detained by the border police closed to the Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint at the Bulgaria-Turkey border after they had crossed the Maritsa River. The police was alerted about the fugitives by an employee of a cafe located along the E-80 road. Meanwhile, two Palestinian citizens were detained at the Kulata Checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Greek border as they were trying to cross into Bulgaria in the trunk of a car driven by a 37-year-old Bulgarian from the city of Burgas. The illegal immigrants have been sent to refugee centers.

Two Romanian citizens were detained at Bulgaria`s border checkpoint of Kapitan Andreevo while trying to smuggle a total of 1,344 vials of perfumes late on Monday. The cosmetic goods were found in a Mercedes bus, driven by the Romanians, aged 25 and 37. They have been transporting the perfumes of famous brands without a permit, issued by the producing companies. All the vials have been seized and legal proceedings were instituted against the two men.
