Customs officers at Railway Station Svilengrad border checkpoint with Turkey have found 20 kilograms of heroin hidden in a Mercedes loaded on a train going from Turkey to Austria. The 63-year-old driver of the car, who is a Turkish citizen living in Germany, was arrested. According to police, the seized amount of drugs is worth about BGN 2,5 M.

Bulgarian customs have seized in cooperation with the National Security Agency and the regional Crime Fighting Authorities a total of 58.5 kg of amphetamines, the press office of the customs agency announced. The drugs were found iat about 3.30 am yesterday upon a detailed examination of a freight vehicle registered in Bulgaria, transporting machines and cosmetics from Bulgaria to Syria. The amphetamines were hidden in three bags with dog food. The estimated value of the drugs is BGN 1.7 Million.
