Austria`s EVN, which is one of the owners of the power distribution networks in Bulgaria, announced electricity for Plovdiv`s public transport company will be gradually cut off if electricity bills stay unpaid. Pazardzhik new interurban bus station will take an 8,000 sq. m site, new urban plan is under preparation for the zone between Bolnichna str. and Stefan Stambolov blvd. The design of the new facility will be BGN 12,000, its construction will amount to BGN 5m, the local administration will apply for the funding before the European Union funds. The site is located near the town ring road and thus the buses will not have to cross the central zone. The station will be the medium type for this type of facility, with a two-level office building. The long-term transport scheme of the town will be done on the grounds of the BGN 45,000 worth scheme for new traffic organization in Pazardzhik.

A procedure for the construction of a new passenger terminal and taxiway at the Plovdiv airport has been initiated, Bulgarian transport minister Petar Mutafchiev said on Tuesday. The general development plan of the airport will be drafted by the end of the year. A new tower for the needs of the air traffic control authority will be built by mid-`09.

The Bulgarian government Thursday decided to transfer to the transport ministry from the defence ministry title over the decommissioned Krumovo airport near Plovdiv .
The transferred assets also include runway, taxiways and other properties in the area.

The mountain passage of Shipka a major road link between South and North Bulgaria, is closed for traffic, the police announced. Freight vehicles are not allowed to continue on the Hemus freeway and are held near the town of Pravets until the road is cleaned. All vehicles must have snow chains in the region of Botevgrad and Smolyan. The Shipkovo-Ribaritsa road is closed. Drivers are advised to follow strictly the road regulations and to be cautious.
