BG post offices will be used for sale of medicines

Bulgarian postmen will become pharmacists as of October. Apart from the letters, they will deliver medicines prescribed by the family doctor to the elderly people in the villages, Ivan Dimitrov director of the branch office of `Bulgarian Post` in the town of Pernik told the Standart.

The pilot project already works successfully in 13 villages in Blagoevgrad and Smolyan districts. In October "Farma Post" service will be launched in the whole country. The pharmacists will have at their disposal special automobiles.

"The post offices will be used for sale of medicines," said Ivan Dimitrov. Drug stores will be opened in the village post offices so that the villagers do not to tramp to the nearest town to buy aspirin.

The mini pharmacies will offer over-the-counter medicines and sanitary goods, even makeups and deodorants.
