The visas that Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry issued to Russian citizens reached 100 000 since the beginning of 2009, Darik Radio reported.

Despite the financial crisis and visa restrictions in the first six months of the year, the number of Russian visitors to Bulgaria increased 19 percent. If the tendency remains unchanged, nearly 300 000 Russian visitors will come to Bulgaria by the end of the year, Deputy Foreign Minister Milen Keremedchiev said.

The decision to make Russian visas free of charge has significantly changed the situation, Darik Radio reported.
