Bulgaria to Issue Visas for Kosovars In Pristina

Citizens of Kosovo can now obtain visas to travel to Bulgaria at the Bulgarian embassy in Pristina. This was announced by Deputy Bulgarian Foreign Minister Milen Keremedchiev during a visit to Kosovo for meetings with government officials.
"As of this Wednesday, Kosovars wanting to travel to Bulgaria will be able to apply for and obtain visas in Pristina," Keremedchiev said.
Visa fees will be EUR60 for citizens bearing travel documents issued by the UN administration in Kosovo and EUR 35 for those still holding Yugoslav passports.
Keremedchiev said that before the lower fee could be introduced for Kosovar applicants, a memorandum of understanding would have to be negotiated between the governments of Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Bulgaria was represented in Pristina by a liaison bureau until Sofia recognised Kosovo nindependence, when the liaison bureau was upgraded to an embassy.
Since Bulgaria joined the European Union, Kosovo citizens have been obliged to obtain visas before entering the country. Until now they could only obtain visas at the Bulgarian embassy in neighbouring Macedonia.
A large number of Kosovars spend their summer vacations at the Bulgarian coast; there is also strong demand for visas from the Kosovo business community.
