Children Left by Parents for 6 Months to be Given for Adoption

Children, left for more than 6 months in a social home to be adopted without parents` agreement. That decision was approved today by the Government.

Adoption without the parents` agreement will be admitted if the child is got into social institution and the parent haven looked for it for a term of 6 months without justified reason.

The aim of this law change is to assure fast taking of the children out the specialized institutions, so to be guaranteed their fast adoption and normal physical and psychical development.

A new register of adopting parents and united information system for the children eligible for full adoption will be established.

The previewed conditions and orders will be in force not only for Bulgarian children, but also for foreign children, which live permanently in Bulgaria.

The criteria of choosing proper adopter will be also specified.
