"I have not been arrested by Romanian border authorities in Calafat," Vidin Mayor Rumen Vidov told FOCUS News Agency, commenting on the information reported earlier about such a case. With regard to what happened on January 17 (Saturday), Vidov stressed that there was some technical failure in the cutter boat that he was in.
"We were going back to Vidin by the cutter boat when its engine stopped. An principally, when a cutter boat has no engine, it is considered in privation in water. The fastest solution was a cutter boat of the border authorities, which pulled us out of the water," Vidov explained.
He stressed that they were in the village of Gomotartsi from where they headed back to Vidin. "We were a total of 5 people on the boat," he said. In his words, the adventure continued for several hours, but he said he cannot say how long exactly.
