Golden Sands resort facing bankruptcy

Tourists are complaining about the high prices, bad services and constant noise from nightclubs. The resort is facing bankruptcy, said Marko Markov, chairman of the Association of Owners in Golden Sands. 

The main reason is that the number of visitors has dropped by 40% from last year despite the fact that hotel room costs were reduced by 25%. Currently a 3- or 4-star hotel costs BGN 30-50 per room per night. However, it costs BGN 24-36 just to loan a beach umbrella and chair, which more than compensates the discounts.

Most of all tourists are complaining about the high prices, bad services and constant noise from nightclubs in the area. Most fast food joints at the beach are clubs by night. Mostly teens go there, get drunk and make noise. Another problem is the chronic lack of parking spaces and guests’ cars keep getting tolled.

This is why most tour operators do not arrange vacations at GS.
