A minor earthquake was registered in the region of the eastern Bulgarian town of Provadia, the Ministry of Extraordinary situations announced. According to the information the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.8 and its epicenter was located at about 350 km northeast from capital Sofia. No casualties or devastation have been reported so far.

A masked attacker spilled acid over two men while they were sitting in a car in Bulgaria`s town of Provadiya , authorities reported Tuesday. The criminal approached the parked vehicle, broke the side window with a wooden bat and splashed the victims with the burning liquid. The man, who was sitting on the driver`s seat at the time of the incident, was taken to a Varna hospital with 20% burns. Two people were slightly injured and transported to the hospital in town of Provadia after a bus carrying Polish tourists hit a truck on the Hemus highway, connecting the capital Sofia with the coastal city of Varna. The 30-year-old driver of the bus suffered bruises and a Polish tourist has a knee contusion, doctors reported. There were many children travelling on the bus but luckily no one of them was hurt. Authorities are still trying to determine the reason behind the accident.

Agricultural holding company Zarneni Hrani Bulgaria (ZHB) said it will launch into operation its first biodiesel plant in April. The plant was scheduled to begin work in March but the spell of bad weather in early January in the Provadia area where it is located pushed the target back a month.

CBA Asset Management, the local supermarket operator, said it is poised to become the nation`s biggest grocer with the imminent take-over of Varna -based peer Burlex. The company will add 11 Burlex 104 stores to its existing network of 18 outlets.
