The Chair of the Bulgarian association of tourist agencies Donka Sokolova blamed the state and more specifically the Tourism Association for the drastic decrease of Scandinavian tourists from Bulgarian resorts. " This year`s season will be successful despite the state ", Donka Sokolova said, cited by BNR (Bulgarian National Radio). The over-development of the Black sea coast is a fact, according to Donka Sokolova, but instead of moaning, we must compensate it with a quality tourist product, she added....

Most of the hotels in Bulgaria are situated along the Black Sea coast (39%). They hold 66.7% of the bed capacity. 272 out of all 1,477 hotels in Bulgaria are in the region of Burgas. The region of Varna hosts 223 hotels and the region of Dobrich – 81, the National Statistical Institute has announced. The survey includes hotels with more than 10 beds.
The beds in hotels, motels, camping sites, chalets, private accommodations, holiday villages and bungalows amount to 234,000 in Bulgaria.

Two serious car crashes killed one person and injured five near the seaside city of Varna , the National Medical Coordination Center told. On Sunday evening a car hit a fence near the village of Staro Orayhovo , wounding two 17 year-old and one 20 year-old boys and killing one person. A 43 year-old woman and three year-old boy are hospitalized after a road accident early on Monday morning near the village of Slanchevo , Varna region . The woman is believed to have fallen asleep while driving the car.

Only six beaches at the Black Sea relatively meet European requirements this season. The other 24 of the 30 inspected fail to meet sanitation requirements.
