Beaches in the Varna region will be let out at 50% lower rents than last year. Seven beaches along the Northern Bulgarian Black Sea coast have been earmarked by the Varna district administration for a 5-year lease. The highest starting price has been set for the central beach in Byala where the bidding for nearly 33 dca will start from BGN 29,000 for each season. State terminated the concession contracts of three beaches on the sea - Kranevo-Central, Byala-Karadere and Burgas-North because of non-payment of concession fees. Concessionaire of the first two beaches was Titan Chistota Ltd. and of the third - Ontime Distribution & Logistics Ltd. Titan Chistota has not paid its fees since 2006 as the company owes BGN 1.4 million for the Kranevo-Central beach, and BGN 400,000 for Byala-Karadere.

All schools in five municipalities in Varna region are to remain shut on Monday after heavy snowfalls and cold front hit the region. The eastern Bulgarian city of Varna declared a state of emergency in five of its municipalities over the weekend. The districts affected are Byala, Suvorovo, Valchidol and settlements in Aksakovo and Vetrino municipality, the Civil Defense Force has announced.

The Assumption of Holy Mary is one of the churches in the town of Byala (southern part of the Varna district ). The temple is dated back to 1876. Rich Russians are buying hotels at the Bulgarian seaside for peanut money, real estate brokers reported. Many of them have commissioned special property agents to hunt for cheap estates. A two-year-old child was ran over by a train close to the Black Sea city of Burgas, and died minutes later in the emergency ward of the Burgas hospital. The kid`s family is from the town of Byala, Varna District. The family came to visit relatives in Burgas. They two-year-old went out to play in the street and got to the railway line, BGNES reported citing doctors in the Burgas hospital. The engine driver either did not see or spotted the unattended child too late to stop.[1] [2]
