A spontaneous protest organized the workers of Terem Khan Krum - Targovishte and closed the road Targovishte - Popovo , near the plant. Shumen region have excellent conditions for the development of hunting tourism. Palarama, Cherni Lom and Popovo hunting stations are among the most active. The hunting stations offer good opportunities for the hunting of deer, boar and other game. The regional forestry directorate has nine hunting grounds. All of them offer opportunities for hunting tourism during specific periods of the year.

The construction of a wastewater treatment plants in Shumen and Popovo was started. The corner stone was laid last Monday by the minister of environment and water. The two facilities tenders have been re-launched in 2005, the contracts were singed last year. The project in Shumen provides for extension of an existing facility as a part of ISPA measure for improvement of the water cycle in town for EUR 30.13m of them 75% co-financed by ISPA and 25% national co-financing.
