Belgian renewable energy company Electrawinds said it launched a 11.4 million euro wind farm in Bulgaria. The wind farm is located in Shabla , on the Black Sea coast , and consists of eight wind turbines with a combined annual output of 15,700 megawatt hours (MWh), the company said in a statement published on its website on Thursday. Recent sea water temperatures of 30 C are the highest over the past 17 years, said Associate Professor Georgi Korchev, Director General of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. An earthquake measuring about 3.5-3.7 by Richter scale has been registered in the country at 7.48 am n Monday, the Civil Protection press office announced. Shabla is registering a successful summer season, the coastal town’s mayor Krasimir Krustev said as quoted by Focus news agency. The biggest groups arrive during the weekends. Visitors are attracted by the wide beaches and the nature of the region. Shabla’s accommodation capacity is sufficient for 1200 visitors. The resort town is experiencing problems dealing with tourists setting camping sites everywhere.

Projects for the construction of clam farms in the coastal towns of Kavarna and Balchik are awaiting approval for funding from an operational program, dariknews.bg reported. A tourism and an i-center are functioning in the town of Shabla starting March 20, Dobroudzhanska Tribuna daily reported. The centers were officially opened during the celebrations marking 40 years since Shabla was named a town. The two new facilities will help tourists gain information about the region and will increase the computer literacy of Shabla residents. Rich Russians are buying hotels at the Bulgarian seaside for peanut money, real estate brokers reported. Many of them have commissioned special property agents to hunt for cheap estates. Owners on the brink of bankruptcy are the most wanted for their unfinished properties and "unrepayable’" debts. Undeveloped projects that have been refused crediting are in high demand, too.
