Belgian renewable energy company Electrawinds said it launched a 11.4 million euro wind farm in Bulgaria. The wind farm is located in Shabla , on the Black Sea coast , and consists of eight wind turbines with a combined annual output of 15,700 megawatt hours (MWh), the company said in a statement published on its website on Thursday. Recent sea water temperatures of 30 C are the highest over the past 17 years, said Associate Professor Georgi Korchev, Director General of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Enel Green Power, renewable energy arm of Italy`s biggest utility Enel, put into operation its second wind farm in Bulgaria, doubling its installed wind capacity in the country, which already totals 42 MW. The new wind farm, located in the municipality of Shabla , consists of 7 turbines with a capacity of 3 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 21 MW. Shabla is registering a successful summer season, the coastal town’s mayor Krasimir Krustev said as quoted by Focus news agency. The biggest groups arrive during the weekends.
