The first elite horse auction in Bulgaria in the last 20 years took place on the territory of former Stefan Karadja equine farm in the village of Strazhitsa, in northeastern Bulgaria. The Bulgarian National Horse Racing Association and the National Horse Breeding Association organized the auction. Forty-four pedigree horses of 17 owners took part in the auction. The total cost of the auctioned animals was over 200 000 levs (1euro = 1.95 levs). Eleven horses were sold for 27 500 levs. The organizers promised the auction would become a tradition.
