| About BGN 150,000 was found during a police search in the home of chairwoman of the Administrative Court in Bulgaria`s seaside city of Varna, Aneliya Tsvetkova, who was arrested over receiving a bribe. Prosecution said they still trying to determine the source of the money found in Tsvetkova`s home. The high-ranking legal official was nabbed Thursday at the moment of taking a bribe of BGN 10,000. The arrest was done as part of a joint raid of the State Agency for National Security and Sofia Prosecutor`s Office. |

The chairwoman of the Administrative Court in Bulgaria`s seaside city of Varna Aneliya Tsvetkova was arrested Thursday over receiving a BGN 10,000 bribe. The high-ranking legal official was detained at the moment of taking the great amount of money. The arrest was done as part of a joint raid of the State Agency for National Security and Sofia Prosecutor`s Office. Legal proceedings on case have immediately been instituted. |

| 200 golden coins have been unearthed during archeological excavations near the Euxinograd royal summer palace complex, Director of the Archeological Museum in the seaside city of Varna Valentin Pletnyov told Focus – Varna Radio. The find dates back to 14 century, the time of the Byzantine emperor Andronik IX. “Besides the golden coins, the archeologists have also discovered a bronze cross and a bronze lamp. The finds are in an excellent condition, which makes them even more valuable,” Pletnyov said. |

The project for an industrial zone in the city of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, has been postponed indefinitely due to the suspension of Phare funding, said a municipal official. The city was expecting to get some 6 mln levs in aid under the program to finance the necessary preparations and monitoring. With the Phare option now off the table, the municipality will have to develop the 12.7 ha site on its own in the face of rising area demand for industrial space. |

| The Black Sea Technology Company (BSTC) , owned by Italy`s AMGA Azienda Multiservizi S.p.A., said it will begin the installation of a gas network in the town of Dryanovo in early `09. Administrative buildings and production facilities will switch to natural gas first to be followed by household customers later. BSTC has a gas distribution licence for the Mizia and Dobrudja regions centered around the cities of Pleven and Dobrich, respectively. |

| RIU, the international hotel chain, will take over at the Pravets Golf&Spa resort in Pravets, North-western Bulgaria, said Terra Tour Service, the investor in the project. RIU has signed on to run a hotel with over 200 rooms in the resort for a period of five years. The 70 mln lev complex, with an 18-hole golf course, has a footprint of 100 ha and should open for business by the fall of `09. RIU already operates Terra Tour hotels in sea resorts Sunny Beach and Golden sands and in coastal city Obzor. |

| 120 soldiers and 30 officers from the Fifth Bulgarian Security Regiment were welcomed Tuesday in the Bulgarian city of Shumen after completing their six-month mission in Iraq. The rangers were greeted at a special ceremony at the Shumen Department of the National Military University "Vasil Levski". The 150 veterans were in charge of guarding the Ashraf Refugee Camp in southeast Iraq. 10 of them were awarded medals of honor by the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Army. |
