29 500 passengers went through Bulgaria`s International Port of Svishtov on the Danube River in 2008, the port press service announced. Of these, 17 750 passengers traveled between Bulgaria and Romania using the permanent daily passenger ship line between Svishtov and the Romanian port of Zimnich, which was started in the middle of 2007. The figure shows a significant increase as in all of 2006 only 5 000 passengers used the Port of Svishtov, and 17 000 did so in 2007. 70 international passenger ships with a total of 7 520 passengers stopped at the Port of Svishtov in 2008.
