| Firefighters in the northern region of Veliko Tarnovo extinguished Monday about ten fires, the local fire safety service told. Fires were raging in all municipalities in the district of Veliko Tarnovo. The flames engulfed mainly dry grass and bushes. Now firefighters are putting out two fires – one in the region of Veliko Tarnovo and another in the region of Gorna Oryahovitsa. The reason for them is illegal setting of stubble on fire and high temperatures with light wind. |

A number of antique objects were seized at a police raid in the home of a 57-year-old citizen of Bulgaria`s Gorna Oryahovitsa on Thursday. The officers discovered 248 Roman coins as well as 66 other antiques in the house, whose owner`s name has not been revealed yet. There are no immediate reports of the findings` origin. Legal proceedings have been instituted on the case. |

| Zaharni Zavodi, the Gorna Oryahovitsa-based confectionery maker, has registered Ethanol Bio, a company for the production and trade in ethanol, bioethanol and biofuels. The new business is set up with a capital of 5,000 levs by Zaharni Zavodi (51%) and Bultechinservice (49%). Earlier this year, Zaharni Zavodi said it will invest in a bioethanol installation with a daily capacity of 10,000 liters. In Jan-May `08, sales rose 15% y/y while output increased 14%, said the company. |
