Bulgarian grand master Veselin Topalov will be the first to make a move in his Tuesday’s game of chess against Gata Kamsky. At the opening ceremony in Sofia of the chess match the organizers asked Topalov to choose between two boxes to determine who of the two will start the game. One of the boxes held a bottle of white wine, and the other – a bottle of red wine. The chief referee will be Ignacio Lion. The official start of the match is due on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.

Sports journalists from 18 countries have applied for accreditation to cover the World Chess Championship semi-final between Veselin Topalov and Gata Kamsky. The match will take place in hall 6 of National Palace of Culture in Sofia on Tuesday and will continue up to February 27th.J ournalists from Sports Express and Russian NTV Plus television have already arrived in the international press center. Most of the journalists – from Russia, U.S., India, China, Serbia, Greece, Armenia and other countries are expected to arrive on Tuesday. They all will have free access to Internet in the international press center.

Bulgaria`s chess grandmaster, Veselin Topalov, will start the New 2009 ranked N 1 in the world standing of FIDE. The official ranking was published yesterday. Topalov has coefficient 2796, followed by Anand (2791) and Vassiliy Ivanchuk (2779).
Veselin Toplaov was born March 15, 1975 in city of Ruse.[1] [2] [3]
