Bulgaria will launch the construction of its cross-border gas link with Romania in August. The gas interconnector, which will cross the river Danube at Ruse /Giurgiu, is being developed jointly by Bulgartransgaz and its Romanian counterpart Transgaz. Bulgaria also plans to build gas links with three other neighbors – Turkey, Greece and Serbia – in a bid to diversify its energy supplies

The Bulgarian government decided to suspend the concession competition about the civil airport in the Danubian city of Ruse as no bids were submitted within the deadline, the Cabinet’s press office said. The procedure opened at the end of last year an closed on March 17.

The municipality of Ruse is going to renew all 10 creches on its territory with almost 6.5 million levs, granted through the operational programme ‘Regional development’. "The construction of six new big dams will have to solve to an extent the problems with the drought in Bulgaria in the coming years," said Bulgaria`s Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Assen Gagauzov. The construction will be funded by a loan from the World Bank at the amount of 100 million euro. In Rousse on the Danube Gagauzov inaugurated the modernized pumping stations of the sewerage and water supply system. The project is a part of the large-scale Integrated Water Project for Rousse that is financed on ISPA.

Minister of Environment and Waters Djevdet Chakurov signed law - projects of 5 new zones under NATURA 2000 protection.
These are the protected zones ‘Lomovete` and ‘Ribarnici Mechka`, both in Rousse area; the ‘Central Balkan` area, located on the land of Aprilci Municipality, Lovech area; Mlechevo village, Gabrovo area and ‘Vardim Island`, Veliko Turnovo area.
