A three-member Romanian family died on spot after the minivan they were riding in veered into the opposite lane and crashed against a bus on the road between Bulgaria`s cities of Pleven and Sofia early on Monday. As a result of the hit, the vehicle flew out of the road and bumped against a nearby tree. A one-year-old Romanian girl and her parents were killed and the driver of the bus, aged 50, suffered light injuries. Fortunately, none of the passengers in the bus was hurt. The reasons for the accident are still under investigation. |

| Raiffeisenbank has reportedly cut the ribbon to 9 offices in April, thus raising the number of its locations to 166 branches countrywide. After an evening of a true torrential downpour on Wednesday, the region of Bulgaria`s northern town of Pleven was hit by a severe hailstorm. The worst-hit district was Dolni Dabnik, where the size of the ice pieces were as big as eggs, local citizens said. The hail fell also over the villages of Pordim and Pisarevo, authorities informed.The heavy rains caused a landslide along the road between the towns of Pleven and Nikopol in the early hours of Thursday. After a whole night of hard work, teams of a private road infrastructure company managed to clear out the section. The traffic in the area has already been normalized. |

A 13-year-old boy killed his 9-year-old girl cousin in the Bulgarian village of Pisaravo, near the city of Pleven. On Sunday the two kids were playing together near their home when they started to quarrel and began fighting. The boy then strangled the girl and tried to hide her body in a canal near the village. The girl`s parents later started to search for the missing child and found the body while police quickly found out who was responsible for the murder. The boy confessed to the brutal crime. Investigation continues. |

| Metro Cash&Carry, the German chain of self-service wholesale warehouses, will spend over 30 mln levs on a hypermarket in the city of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, said Elena Simeonova, head of corporate communications. It will be the chain`s 10th outlet in Bulgaria. The 2.0 ha plot that will be occupied by the store is located in the western industrial zone of the city. The retail space will total 7,000 sq m. Parking will be available for 400 cars. The Pleven outlet will target grocers, hotel owners, catering companies and other businesses with an inventory of some 60,000 items. |
