Current manager of Litex lovech will be new national football manager

The former manager of PFC Levski, currently in Litex Lovech, Stanimir Stoilov, will be the new coach of the Bulgarian national football team, Meridian Mach daily wrote Tuesday.

Stoilov will keep his position in Litex as well. The decision to appoint him a National manages has been discussed with the Lovech based team`s owner Grisha Ganchev, who agreed.

The first to hint that Stoilov will be the successor of recently fired Plamen Markov was the chairman of the Bulgarian Football Union, Borislav Mihailov, goalkeeper of the "golden generation" of Bulgarian footballers, that achieved a 4th place at the 94 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

He had said that Stoilov is the "Bulgarian choice for a successor of Markov", and later he announced that a foreign coach will not be heading the team. The decision will be officially announced in January, after all the details between Stoilov and Mihailov are worked out.

Plamen Markov was fired after a series of draws in World Cup qualifiers and a disastrous 6:1 defeat from Serbia in a friendly this November. Rumors of the lack of respect the team`s stars had for their coach, spread to the media, also added up to the Football Union`s decision the relieve him.

Stoilov has led the national team one time before - for two matches with Belarus, shortly after Hristo Stoichkov left the position. Bulgaria achieved victories in both games, but still fell short of qualifying for Euro 2008.

Stanimir Stoilov has the fame of being Bulgaria`s most succesful club manager in recent history, after reaching the UEFA Cup`s 1/4 finals with PFC Levski in 2006. Later the same team, managed by Stoilov, became the first Bulgarian team to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage.
