Business: Pleven industrial park project on hold

The project for an industrial zone in the city of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, has been postponed indefinitely due to the suspension of Phare funding, said a municipal official. The city was expecting to get some 6 mln levs in aid under the program to finance the necessary preparations and monitoring. With the Phare option now off the table, the municipality will have to develop the 12.7 ha site on its own in the face of rising area demand for industrial space.

The Black Sea Technology Company (BSTC) , owned by Italy`s AMGA Azienda Multiservizi S.p.A., said it will begin the installation of a gas network in the town of Dryanovo in early `09. Administrative buildings and production facilities will switch to natural gas first to be followed by household customers later. BSTC has a gas distribution licence for the Mizia and Dobrudja regions centered around the cities of Pleven and Dobrich, respectively.
