The project for an industrial zone in the city of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, has been postponed indefinitely due to the suspension of Phare funding, said a municipal official. The city was expecting to get some 6 mln levs in aid under the program to finance the necessary preparations and monitoring. With the Phare option now off the table, the municipality will have to develop the 12.7 ha site on its own in the face of rising area demand for industrial space. |

| The Black Sea Technology Company (BSTC) , owned by Italy`s AMGA Azienda Multiservizi S.p.A., said it will begin the installation of a gas network in the town of Dryanovo in early `09. Administrative buildings and production facilities will switch to natural gas first to be followed by household customers later. BSTC has a gas distribution licence for the Mizia and Dobrudja regions centered around the cities of Pleven and Dobrich, respectively. |

| A fluoridated milk program that offers protection against tooth decay in children will be presented in the northern municipality of Dryanovo, Focus – Veliko Tarnovo Radio reported. Dr. Nikola Atanasov, director of the collaboration center at the World Health Organization, and Lyuben Nikolov, general consultant for Bulgaria and the Balkans of Borrow Foundation – UK will be present. According to the data of the foundation the program for drinking fluoridated milk results in a sharp reduction of the tooth decay cases in children, who take it in regularly as compared to children who have not been included in the program. |

| Dozens of Roma from several Bulgarian towns will undergo IT training within a pilot project, launched Tuesday by the State Agency of Information Technologies and Communications. The project, called Integration of Minority Groups, is to be developed in the towns of Lom, Montana, Dryanovo, Blagoevgrad and Stara Zagora, the agency`s Chairman Plamen Vachkov said. Among the abilities to be developed are ordinary computer and expert programme training. The course of education will last for six months, ending with an examination. The Roma, who manage to pass it will be given special certificates. |

The Julia Company will build a rural tourism complex in the village of Tsareva Livada, in the Drianovo municipality. The property will comprise 30 residential buildings and related infrastructure. The regional environment inspectorate in Veliko Tarnovo has approved the investment proposal because the site is not a part of any protected areas.
