Sofia Municipality announced Thursday it begins the construction of the second underground line in Bulgaria`s capital.For that purpose, the officials informed section of the central Maria Luiza Boulevard will remain closed since September 1 2011. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the southern lane of the boulevard from the overhead crossin Nadezhda to Opalchenska Street.The route of tram line 9 will also be changed, the authorities alerted.

Bulgarian transport authorities canceled Wednesday major transport connections to Greece because of the large-scale 24-hour strike paralyzing Bulgaria`s southern neighbor. Sofia Airport expects a 20% rise in the number passengers about holidays, airport director Plamen Stanchev said. He noted that the airport had welcomed approximately 18,000 passengers between December 21st and December 31st 2007.
